From a Canterbury co-op to a national pharmacy partner
Founded in 1927, CDC Pharmaceuticals has steadily transitioned from what was once a local Canterbury company, to a national co-operative.
Today, we service businesses as far south as Invercargill, and as far north as Kaitaia from five different warehouse facilities. We have more than 400 members ranging from community pharmacies to larger franchises and hospitals. As the industry’s storeroom, we play an integral role in ensuring New Zealanders receive the medication and supplements they need. Together with members, we save lives. Membership in the CDC cooperative provides businesses with access to a world-class wholesaler and a network of like-minded enterprises across the nation.
We continue to grow at a rate faster than the market – something we’re very proud of.
This success stems from our commitment to innovation and adaptability. This mentality is why we were the first with automation, in our Christchurch warehouse and why we have deliberately diversified our customer base to include large franchises and Hospitals.
Accuracy and timeliness are critical components for our member’s success. Our mission is to deliver the right product, at the right time, to the right customer. This is our competitive point of difference and a reason why members choose to work with us. The majority of our referrals come from word-of-mouth, reflecting our strong industry reputation.
Despite our growth, our core remains unchanged: a cooperative that prioritizes its members and delivers on service. We value relationships, treating our members as business partners rather than sales targets.
At CDC, our cooperative model means that at the end of each financial year we give back to our members through rebates. Investing in CDC is an investment in your business. But, we don’t just give rebates, we also help our members build stronger and more resilient businesses. We’ve accumulated a wealth of data and insights that we leverage and share to help members with decision making. We offer KPI and benchmarking services, which help members to truly understand where they sit compared to similar operations around the country, and how they might be able to optimise their own success.
Our promise is to maintain this innovative mindset and continue delivering the exceptional service that has solidified the CDC legacy. This includes hiring and retaining the best people, upskilling to ensure we’re across the latest industry technology and trends, and offering new services to our members.
